Mountains to the Sea: The 2025 Southwestern Tribal Summit
Hosted by the Climate Science Alliance and Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals and in collaboration with Native Coast Action Network, Sacred Places Institute for Indigenous Peoples, and Wishtoyo Chumash Foundation, the Southwestern Tribal Summit is convening for the fourth time with the theme of “Mountains to the Sea” on May 7-8, 2025 on Chumash land in Ventura, California.

Led by Chumash partners on their homelands in what is now known as Ventura, the Summit will provide the opportunity for participants to come together to learn and share in this space between the mountains and the sea.
On the first day, participants will convene on the coastal plain beneath the southern mountain range to explore meaningful engagement through panel discussions on Respect, Relationships, and Reciprocity, followed by talking circles to inspire connection and collaboration.
The second day will offer opportunities to visit the coast, with activities to foster learning and training.
The Summit will bring together Tribal leaders, environmental professionals, and community members from across the Southwest. Plan for two days of engaging discussions and activities centered around the coastal nexus of land and water, and collaborative efforts to advance meaningful Tribal and community-led stewardship and restoration across the region.
