On Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 the Alliance joined the County Parks and Recreation Department and other federal and state wildlife agencies to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Multiple Species Conservation Program (MSCP) at the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve.

The Multiple Species Conservation Program (MSCP) preserves a network of habitats and open spaces, with the mission to protect biodiversity and enhance the region's quality of life. The MSCP is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional program that works across political boundaries to provide a framework for region-wide conservation efforts by outlining geographic areas, species, and habitats that should and can be protected. The 50-year agreement spaces 29 region preserves containing tens of thousands of acres of open space in San Diego County.

Alliance staff joined the celebration that included guided history tours, hikes, a bike ride, interpretive programs, meet-and-greets with animal ambassadors, and more! Visitors were invited to investigate the climate impacts on carnivores and connectivity and make commitments to help give wildlife a break!

Programs and materials presented at this event were made possible through the support of San Diego Gas & Electric (Environmental Champions). Thank you!
