Climate Kids Tribal Youth from the San Pasqual Band Visit Scripps

Recently, tribal youth from the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians attended a Climate Kids - Tribes field trip to Scripps Institution of Oceanography — check out what they learned!

On July 17, 2019 tribal youth from the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians attended a Climate Kids - Tribes field trip to Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The group participated in a fun and engaging SCOPE-led tour of the Institution.

SCOPE, a partner of the Climate Science Alliance and Climate Kids, is a volunteer organization based at Scripps Institution of Oceanography composed of graduate students and researchers. SCOPE connects students to the incredible science conducted at Scripps. By partnering with the Climate Science Alliance, SCOPE helps host Climate Kids field trips at their campus facilities.

During their Climate Kids field trip, students learned about key climate messages and how climate is impacting our oceans and world. Students also received a private research tour of the Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier and Hubbs Research Aquarium where they got to interact with specimens and see how a real research lab works.

We are grateful for our continued partnership with the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians and the SCOPE Team. Through these field trips we are better able to connect students to climate themes and programming in a way that is exciting and inspires action.
