The Climate Science Alliance was excited to partner with San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy to help develop their new program, “A Pollinator’s Paradise.” This engaging Kindergarten-2nd grade program covers the importance of pollinators and how climate impacts them in our community.
The Climate Science Alliance was excited to continue our ongoing partnership with San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy (SDRVC) to help develop their new program, “A Pollinator’s Paradise.” As a new program for the Conservancy, A Pollinator’s Paradise will teach Kindergarten-2nd grade students about the complexities and importance of one of our most dynamic pollinators, the Painted Lady butterfly, through in-classroom teachings, witnessing caterpillars metamorphosis, and releasing butterflies in the field. The Conservancy and the Climate Science Alliance partnered on this program to ensure the integration of climate science into the curriculum, highlighting the pressure pollinators are facing and how students can become stewards of our natural environment.
The San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy (SDRVC) preserves, protects, and shares the natural and cultural resources of the San Dieguito River Valley through collaborative efforts to acquire lands, complete trails, restore habitats, establish educational programs, create interpretive centers, encourage recreation, and mobilize public support. The “Pollinator’s Paradise” Program was made possible with generous support from SDGE’s Environmental Champions Initiative that works to support and increase climate education efforts in our region.
