Celebrating Cross-Border Environmental Collaboration at the Border BioBlitz Discovery Day

Thank you to the San Diego Natural History Museum for inviting us to attend the 2024 Border BioBlitz Discovery Day to celebrate the biodiversity of the San Diego-Tijuana region and foster cross-border environmental collaboration.

Climate Science Alliance had a fun and windy day celebrating cross-border environmental collaboration efforts at the Border BioBlitz Discovery Day at the Tijuana Estuary Visitors Center on May 5, 2024! This event serves as the kick off to the month long Border BioBlitz efforts.

At the event we had a great time connecting with the other vendors and all the attendees who are invested in cross-border conservation and environmental stewardship.

Attendees of all ages played our new game Up, Down, & All Around: the Pathway to Good Fire, as a way to talk about the relationship that plants and animals in Southern California have with fire and the ways that we can be good fire stewards.

We had so many great conversations about the wonderful native plants in the San Diego-Tijuana region and were inspired by how invested the next generation of environmental stewards is in protecting our region as a whole!

The Border BioBlitz is a collaborative community science effort all through the month of May, focused on recording as many species as possible who call the U.S.-Mexico border area home. It is made possible by the Botanical Community Development Initiatives, the San Diego Natural History Museum, Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, California State Parks, and the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge Complex.
