Thank you to the Sacred Places Institute for Indigenous Peoples for inviting us out to celebrate Earth Day at Sherman Indian High School! We had a great time chatting with about 250 high school students and other community members who attended, playing our new game “Up, Down, & All Around: The Pathway to Good Fire”, and more!
Climate Science Alliance had a blast talking with over 250 Sherman Indian High School students at the Earth Day celebration on April 18th, 2024. We were so thankful for the invitation and support that Sacred Places Institute for Indigenous Peoples provided for this event. They welcomed us into the space, were so helpful throughout the day, and organized an awesome lineup of performers for the event. There was lots of singing, dancing and music throughout the day!
At our booth it was such a pleasure to talk with lots of students interested in being good stewards of the Earth. To support their journey we were able to share about our Stewardship Pathways trainings and give them a Plant Relatives of the Southern California Desert informational coloring book. Attendees were also excited to take a beautiful sticker with artwork by Audrey Carver or enjoy the giveaways donated by CLIF Bar and Dr. Bronners.
Kids of all ages played the new game from our Climate Science & Fire Traveling Trunk, Up, Down, & All Around: the Pathway to Good Fire, as a way to learn about the relationship that plants and animals in Southern California have with fire and the ways that we can be good fire stewards.
Thank you again to Scared Places Institute for Indigenous Peoples and Sherman Indian High School for hosting us and for creating such a wonderful Earth Day event!
