Celebrating the Earth With SDG&E

Thank you to San Diego Gas & Electric for inviting us to celebrate Earth Day! It was a busy day with lots of fun and lots of meaningful conversations with attendees. Thanks for inviting us to celebrate Earth Day with you!

Climate Science Alliance had an amazing, busy and impactful Earth Day celebration on April 30th 2024 at San Diego Gas & Electric! About 550 very engaged and excited SDG&E employees attended the event and we had a great time getting to talk with them.

Our booth was busy from beginning to end with folks who were curious about the climate adaptation work we do, about environmental stewardship and about getting involved with the Climate Science Alliance.

SDG&E employees jumped right in and rolled the giant blow up dice from the Up, Down, & All Around: the Pathway to Good Fire game, which allowed the participants to learn about the relationship that plants and animals in Southern California have with fire and the ways that we can be good fire stewards. This game is an activity from our new Climate Kids Climate Science & Fire Traveling Trunk.

At our table attendees had the opportunity to sign up for our newsletter, take an informational postcard about our projects, grab a Plant Relatives of the Southern California Desert coloring book, take a sticker or enjoy the giveaways donated by CLIF Bar and Dr. Bronners.

We also enjoyed getting to visit with the other organizations represented at the SDG&E Earth Day, including a place to pet goats where they were talking about how to use goats as a way to clear overgrown bushes and help prevent damaging wildfires.

SDG&E also unveiled it’s brand new Climate and Wildfire Resiliency Educational Center, a beautiful space filled with interactive exhibits for youth and adults to learn about the impacts of climate change in San Diego and how our communities can be resilient to it’s impacts.

A big thank you to SDG&E for hosting us and for creating such a wonderful Earth Day event!
