The Climate Science Alliance is excited to kick off a new partnership with Coastal Roots Farm to integrate the Climate Kids program into the farm’s K-12 education initiatives.
Coastal Roots Farm, located in Encinitas, CA, is a nonprofit Jewish community farm and education center. Their mission is to cultivate healthy, connected communities by integrating sustainable agriculture, food justice, and ancient Jewish wisdom. Many of the agricultural practices the farm incorporates in its production work to keep the soil healthy and reduce the impact of the food system on our planet.
With support from the 2019 Environmental Champions Grant from San Diego Gas and Electric, our Climate Kids program has expanded to include a new module, “Resilient Roots: Connecting Climate and Food Systems.” As part of this grant, the Climate Science Alliance is working to support our partners, like Coastal Roots Farm, and other local stakeholders to support outreach and co-creation of educational materials for our community exploring the intersection of climate, food, and agriculture.
We are excited to work with Coastal Roots to integrate Climate Kids messages and our new Climate Science and Food Systems Traveling Trunk into their offerings.
