The Climate Science Alliance team took part in the 2023 Statewide Tribal Leaders’ Clean Energy Summit earlier this year on Cupeño and Luiseño land at Pala Resort Casino.
The 2023 Statewide Tribal Leaders’ Clean Energy Summit was held on August 7th-9th, 2023 on Cupeño and Luiseño lands at Pala Resort Casino. Climate Science Alliance Tribal Capacities and Partnerships Program Manager, Will Madrigal Jr., joined as a panelist for the “Climate Adaptation and Resource Protection'' panel.
The event allowed space for Tribal environmental, climate, cultural resources and emergency management teams, to have critical dialogue and foster partnership opportunities. With the focus on energy sovereignty being so multidimensional and intersectional, the summit was successful at highlighting Tribal leadership priorities for pursuing United States Department of Energy funding opportunities moving forward.
