Climate Science Alliance & partners attend AWE+ An Adaptable World Environment Summit – in Las Vegas to share their work in climate resiliency and working across silos to drive solutions.
Climate Science Alliance team, Advisors, and partners attended AWE+ An Adaptable World Environmental Summit on August 21-22 in Las Vegas to share their work in wildfire recovery & resilience and working across silos to drive solutions.
The Summit was hosted by the Desert Research Institute, a close partner of the Climate Science Alliance, to bring people and partners together around human adaptation to wildfire to envision paradigm shifting work.
Climate Science Alliance Advisor, Nikki Cooley, provided a keynote where she talked about how her Diné (Navajo Nation) upbringing influences her everyday work of collaboratively working with Tribal and Indigenous communities across the world. As part of Nikki’s keynote, Climate Science Alliance Founder & Executive Director, Dr. Amber Pairis, had the privilege of introducing our long-time partner and friend to the Summit attendees, where Amber shared the interconnectedness and purpose of our work and how we all might be inspired by Nikki and her work.
Climate Science Alliance Advisor, Tamara Wall, provided introductory remarks and also, alongside Amber, moderated a panel and interactive activity focused on “Mapping a Path to Resilience & Recovery: How Can We Be Leaders for Change?” and inspire efforts to bridge science and community led actions.
Heard at the event:
“Thank you for bringing the heart to this work!”
- in response to Amber’s introduction of herself and Nikki’s keynote.
