Climate Science Alliance team member Ana Lutz-Johnson recently joined youth at the Pauma Band of Luiseño Indians after-school program to share the impacts of climate change in our region and what we can do to help.
Building on a long-standing partnership with the Pauma Band of Luiseño Indians, the Alliance was invited to share Climate Kids activities with students. Youth learned more about the distinction between weather and climate, how climate change is impacting our region, and what actions we can take to help wildlife and our planet.
The discussion was followed by an exciting Climate Kids Scavenger Hunt activity designed by Affiliated Artist Audrey Carver. This hands-on activity features several observation points, prompting youth to explore the area and walk around with their nature journal to write down their observations. Through this hands-on activity, students had the opportunity to explore their surroundings through the lens of climate change and consider actions they can take to help protect wildlife and our planet.
