Climate Science Alliance had a great time celebrating the opening of the San Diego Natural History Museum’s new Native plant garden on June 29th 2024.

This free event was hosted outside of the San Diego Natural History Museum where a variety of organizations gathered to provide resources and educate attendees about native plants, biodiversity, horticulture and/or conservation.

We played our new educational game Up, Down, & All Around: the Pathway to Good Fire, as a way to talk about the relationship that plants and animals in Southern California have with fire and the ways that we can be good fire stewards. This game can be checked out and used by educators as a part of our newest educational resource, the Climate Science & Fire Traveling Trunk which will be available to the public to check out this fall.

There was also a coloring station set up for attendees to take a break and spend some time coloring the beautiful images in the Plant Relatives of the Southern California Desert Coloring Book.

A big thank you to the San Diego Natural History Museum for hosting the event and inviting us to participate, we had lots of wonderful conversation about Native plants and how we can all be better environmental stewards.
