Southern Montane Forests Conservation Strategy Webinar Recording Available Now!

On January 9th, 50 people attended our online webinar to learn more about the Southern California Montane Forests Project's Conservation Strategy. This webinar provided a space to learn how to implement the new Conservation Strategy and explore its potential applications in the field. The recording is now available on our YouTube channel!

The “Climate-Adapted Conservation Strategy for Southern California Montane Forests” aims to bolster the resilience of montane — or higher-elevation forests — with climate-informed actions. The strategy offers land managers a comprehensive guide to enhancing forest and community health with collaborations across different landscapes.

On January 9, 2025, 50 participants from nonprofits, Tribes, state government, academia, and the federal government had the opportunity to learn more about the Strategy through a webinar designed to provide space to explore the tools and applications.

The webinar was presented by Megan Jennings, Research Scientist at San Diego State University, Sara Hennesy, Associate Ecologist for the Forest Service, Nicole Molinari, Provincial Ecologist for Southern California, with support from Amber Pairis, Executive Director of the Climate Science Alliance. The webinar began with a preview of the strategy, sharing the goals and framework. After the presentation, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and share their opinions about the strategy and their vision for using the strategy in the coming year.

You can view a recording of the webinar here.
